Surf Rider is one of the baby sea ponies who live in the waters of Dream Valley.
History[]
Surf Rider first appears in the ghost of Paradise Estate helping Megan, Danny, Molly and Fizzy travel underwater in bubbles after she uses the signal shell she got from the other sea ponies. Surf Rider was also part of return of Tambelon though she was the only one of the entire cast not to appear in the episode, in it she and Water Lily are the only sea ponies to escape the invasion of Dream Valley by the troggles and were hiding out somewhere other than the campfire everyone else was. And they are also not shown to have been captured like the others are one by one through the rest of the episode, making Surf Rider and Water Lily appear to be the only ones who got away from Grogar until his defeat.
She is also in the magic coins, first shown enjoying the water of the lake with the other baby sea ponies, having fun in their natural habitat when they find a chest of magic coins. But unfortunately these coins nearly prove to be the end of the baby sea ponies, when Baby Lickety Split wishes it would never rain again Ponyland begins drying away, Surf Rider and all the others become beached as their rivers and lakes dry up and they would soon die if they didn’t get back to water. But luckily as all seemed lost as Dream Valley burned in flames the troll Niblick reversed the magic coins power and it rained making the baby sea ponies better.
In her next appearance Ponyland faces the opposite problem, when swimming in the water Ponyland begins freezing over. Both she and Sea Shimmer go to tell the ponies back at Paradise Estate of the problem, as they arrive the water freezes over trapping the two under water, but they are still able to be helpful as when Megan and the group of ponies try to find the source of the cold wave Surf Rider and Sea Shimmer lead them from under the ice but they could not go much further than the penguin palace as the ice was too thick for them to swim under, they are last shown happily singing their trademark song when Ponyland returns to normal.
Appearance[]
Sea Shimmer appears like every other baby sea pony, she is Lavender with light pink hair and blue eyes and uses a blue fish float.
Personality[]
Surf Rider and the other baby sea ponies have indistinguishable personalities, they are all shown to be fun loving and playful, loving to play in water and play games of water polo, also wanting to be helpful when they can be like helping Megan, Galaxy and the others find the source of Ponyland freezing over.
Merchandise[]
Surf Rider was first released in 1985 as one of the first line of baby sea ponies in the Tiny Bubbles pose, the next year both she and Sea Shimmer would be re released as part of the pretty and pearly line being more shiny.
